Metronome Chair is the latest for david/nicolas’ Studio Line. Available in two sizes the chair, made in Italy, is a natural addition to the line that features classic silhouettes and enduring materials.

“Studio Line pieces are materialisations of the most personal and spontaneous bursts of imagination,” the duo explains. “What often starts off as a sketch, a feeling or a reflection initiates a dialogue within our office and eventually translates into these pieces that perpetuate a strong sense of our identity.”

The first iteration is a comfortable dining chair with generous seating to enjoy sitting through a meal for a longer period of time. The lounge chair is wider and lower and destined to be added to a living space. The curve of the backrest adds more comfort to the piece and softens the overall shape.

The armchair was designed following a logic of joinery between wooden cylinder and surfaces while also adding some textures to give more depth to the material. “This piece was added organically to our studio line, we never create a new piece based on what’s missing in our collection but rather take the opportunity to explore different projects when we have an idea,” the duo elaborates.

David Raffoul and Nicolas Moussallem have established a global presence since they set up their studio, david/nicolas, in Beirut in 2011. Through their interdisciplinary approach to a retro-futurist design aesthetic, they have staged several exhibitions and collaborated with established international brands like Vista Alegre, CC-Tapis, Moooi and Vogue Italia.
