In this classic Victorian Mansion – complete with turrets, spires and gothic windows – lives Kinetic sculptor Daniel Chadwick, his wife Juliet and their two children, Eva and Caspar. From the outside, Lypiatt Park is all English charm. Inside, however, it’s crisp and modern, and looks a lot like an art gallery. The walls – and many of the floors – are all painted stark white – a bold move made by Daniel’s father, the modernist sculptor Lynn Chadwick. Throughout the house are cast metal sculptures and large-scale roundel canvases by Damien Hirst, and many of Daniel’s own mobile works. Matthew Donaldson‘s video tour gives us a look through the sprawling home, cleverly reflecting the traditional/quirky clash it pulls off (the white-clad, running family is a winning – and slightly strange – touch).

Having lived in Gloucestershire myself, I must say that the landscape is some of the most beautiful I have seen in the UK. The way this property allows for incredible views is really fantastic placement. The large bay windows make the space. I dread to think what planning had to say about this during application. Never the less, it is a beautiful home and no doubt well worth the effort.
