My love for embroidery is nothing new, but Claire Coles’ extraordinary hand embroidered wallpapers are certainly new to me. Claire graduated from Middlesex University in 2003 with first class honors in Applied Arts. Amongst her first commissions were a wallpaper display for Liberty of London and a book cover design for Penguin Publishing. Oh man, how is that for a career start? Epic!

Claire works from her West London showroom, where she designs and produces bespoke embroidered wallpapers for both private clients and commercial projects. All of her luxury wallpapers are designed and made by hand, and made to order. Each design is unique in its own right with a range of emotive patterns, textures and scenes. Claire sources pieces of vintage wallpapers and stitches them together using delicate silks and leathers creating pieces of ethereal quality and exquisite beauty.

You can browse a collection of gift items in her online shop. So, so, so beautiful.

I love embroidery…especially in unusual situations. I have been known to embroidery my own oil paintings! I am always amazed at mixed media embroidery art. But this…Claire Coles is my new artistic hero. Brava!!
