In 1964, designer Poul M. Volther joined forces with Erik Jørgensen in the creation of the “Corona” chair – inspiration for the name came from the shining ring of light during a total solar eclipse.
Their enthusiasm was immediate as it was obvious to both parties that the chair had potential to become an icon. The four curved elliptical and organic seat/back cushions mounted on a beautifully handcrafted frame appear both semi-transparent and complete at the same time.
For the past 50 years, the Corona has proven itself and achieved status of a classic icon. To commemorate this occasion,Erik Jørgensen present a collectors edition of 50 Corona Classic in an exclusive African wenge and vegetable tanned leather. The Corona limited edition is fitted with a metal plate engraved with the designers name and sequential numbering.
