Dancer collection by Coco Flip x Belinda Wiltshire. Art direction: Marsha Golemac. Photography: Pier Carthew.Melbourne-based furniture and lighting design studio Coco Flip, run by Kate Stokes and Haslett Grounds, works closely with local craftspeople and manufacturers to create playful products with depth of character. Their latest collection, Dancer, in collaboration with ceramicist Belinda Wiltshire, marries sculptural ceramics with functional lighting in a striking series of table lamps, wall lights, and ceiling mounts.Drawing inspiration from Oskar Schlemmer’s Triadisches Ballet of 1920s Bauhaus, each piece captures the essence of movement through bold geometric forms and distinctive black iron oxide striping. “The stripe, to me, is the perfect vessel for combining uniformity and freedom,” shares Wiltshire, whose refined artistry shapes each piece in her Preston studio. It has brought forward a dimension I hadn’t seen in my work before.” — Belinda Wiltshire The collection emerged from a serendipitous encounter at Sorse Gallery, where Wiltshire’s exhibition ‘Echo’ caught Stokes and Grounds’ attention. “We really took our time and gave Belinda plenty of space to make sure the collection resonated with her own practice,” explains Kate Stokes, highlighting the studio’s collaborative approach. Each lamp showcases Wiltshire’s signature hand-painted black iron oxide brushwork in three striking patterns—wide, thin, and spaced stripes. The table lamps feature an innovative tilting mechanism, allowing for dynamic light manipulation while paying homage to the collection’s balletic inspiration.European Nostalgia: Coco Flip’s New Bellini Collection.Upholstered bistro-style bench seats are the hero of the range, extending to bar stools, low café stools, coffee, and side tables.
