This apartment by Coci studio is a warm, colourful and zany home for a cat lover—who paradoxically does not own a cat. Located in Sion, Switzerland, the bright home is made up of a patchwork of unique elements centred around the kitchen. It’s a project indicative of the architecture practices work, founded in 2018 by Camille Bagnoud and Carole Froidevaux. Based between Lausanne and London, the studio has garnered a reputation for playful colour schemes, bold patterns, melange of materials and fine details. Throughout the design process, different mediums are used, from drawings, images, models and collages to enhance a joyful and surprising architecture. For this home, each component acts like a living creature—independent, free and just a little bit cute. A perceptible and vibrant tension is at work with the existing architecture, without diminishing it. In the kitchen, a conic extraction rangehood in a deep psychedelic cyan blue by Fala Atelier is complemented by a coral-coloured stepped kitchen island and ear-shaped kitchen handles. The colour palette is a swirl of everything from tangerine, forest green and midnight blue to light pink and acid yellow. And yet the interior—with white walls, walnut timber joinery following the datum line and simple parquet floors—never feels overwhelmed. The home manages to feel balanced with the studio taking a broad yet restrained approach. The photographs were taken while some furry friends visited for the housewarming party, and they certainly seemed right at home.Compact Vintage Apartment in Katowice by Mistovia.Formerly two apartments that have been merged into one, the interior is brushed up with a colourful palette of soft pinks and blues...
