Cult Design is back with the fourth edition of Chairity Project, an event that invites leading Australian creatives to bravely reinterpret an iconic chair. With complete creative control in the hands of the designers, the reinvented pieces are exhibited nationwide and auctioned off to a selection of charities across the country.Previous years have seen the creatives tackle the CH33 (1957) by Hans Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son and the Series 7 (1955) by Arne Jacobsen for Republic of Fritz Hansen. This year the honour goes to HAY’s iconic Result Chair—a 1950’s design by Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld. Cult engaged 18 creatives from a cross section of industrial design, architecture, interior, art, scent, ceramics and graphics to undergo the reinvention, leading to an absolutely diverse ‘collection’ of furniture of which no two pieces are alike.
