Carles Sala of BTRT has launched his first collection of lamps made skillfully by hand. The Spanish industrial designer and product developer has been working on this collection of illuminated objects using mosaic glass tiles from recycled and recyclable materials.

The name, BTRT, stands for “boterut” a word in Catalan that means irregular and imperfect— an object that does not follow aesthetic standards. Carles follows this philosophy with bold, playful and unapologetic designs that are not afraid to stand out. As he says: “[the colours] have been chosen accurately to work perfectly in different environments, and not go unnoticed by its users”.

The lamps are manufactured exclusively by hand in a workshop located in Igualada, Barcelona, using only recycled materials. The tiles are made from 100% recycled glass, and the core material of the lamps comes from scrap material from the local design industry.

Apart from the exciting range of models available, the collection is fully customisable, with customers able to order bespoke lamps in any colour and size. For more information, click here.
