Studio Amaro is the latest eatery to hit Melbourne’s Chapel Street. Designed by Wendy Bergman of Bergman & Co (Poodle Bar, Chin Chin and Sakura), the day-to-night Italo-dining restaurant and basement bar is a veritable feast for the eyes. The interior is home to a detailed material palette rich with timber panelling, mosaic tiles, brass accents and surprising colourful accents. On the ground floor, an expansive 100-seat Italian restaurant is divided by a curving granite and burgundy mosaic-tiled bar, defining intimate pockets to dine and drink. With a prime corner location and floor-to-ceiling windows to match, the space makes for an ideal spot for a long lunch. At night, find a change of pace with bespoke bar shelving, aglow with Amaro—the eponymous Italian digestif—pulling people in from the street. Yellow corduroy banquettes sit against olive-toned render, stained plywood and banded timber cladding, crafting an inviting palette with mid-century inflections.Poodle Bar and Bistro in Melbourne by Bergman & Co.Velvet, leather, and marble are layered in this bistro to create a decadent and luxurious atmosphere designed to invoke a sense of nostalgia...
