Monica Armani’s Latest Collection for B&B Italia nods to Jackie O’s Distinctive Sunglasses.

Furniture and fashion have always been intermeshed, whether inspiration comes from the present or, in the case of Monica Armani’s award-winning Flair O’ Couture, furniture from the swinging 1960s. Armani’s Flair O’ and Allure O’ for B&B Italia took their design cues from Jackie O’s distinctive angular sunglasses.

A collaboration with unPIZZO, The Flair O’ Outdoor, an indoor and outdoor chair with a woven backrest, has a cape-like silhouette that could easily have been found in Jackie’s wardrobe. Others sitting on this chair, with its ribbon-like backrest (made from woven polypropylene), could imagine the macrame installations displayed in her living room. But history only works successfully when ideas move forward and the latest technology is used. So, the Flair O’ Outdoor was produced with a lightweight aluminium frame with padded cushions and is available in four different colours.

Perfect for the dining room, both the Flair O’ Chair and the Allure O’ table come in two sizes for maximum flexibility. The Allure O’ table, for example, comes with either a square or rectangular top – in light and black oak timber. And to ensure this table can be used outdoors, it was also conceived in moulded cement with a light concrete top with a glossy glaze.

For those wanting their guests to linger at the dining table, the Flair O’, with its triangular base, is completely covered in fabric, like a fine bespoke suit. With its swivel base, there’s also a nod to the 1960s when chairs called for motion – hence the swinging 1960s. As with this decade, when colour came to the fore, Armani introduced 18 colours for items for the table, in both matt and glossy finishes.
