Welcome to the 21st century! “Architecture Animée” are a series of GIFS that showcase famous buildings in motion and in different perspectives, brought to us by French artist Axel de Stampa. De Stampa creates shape shifting buildings by transforming architecture by SANAA, Herzog and de Meuron, David Chipperfield and many others into amazing moving structures. The first GIF came about as a Week 1 response to the 52 week long assignment in which students were invited to create one spontaneous architecture project each week– an initiative undertaken with fellow Ecole d’Architecture de Paris-Belleville graduate Sylvain Macaux.“Architecture Animée looks into the concept of motion in architecture. By using gif format, buildings come alive and reveal their true nature,” says de Stampa. For each image, animation is used to reveal something new or unnoticed about a familiar building. Seriously cool-town and très entertaining – especially the one below. Hilarious! Emerson College Los Angeles / Morphosis Architects.
