A Monolithic Jewellery Boutique in Ahmedabad by R+R Architects & Apical Reform.

At Zaura in Ahmedabad, India, a brutalist interior creates a perfect backdrop to showcase the brand’s exquisite jewellery collections. Monochromatic tones, fluid designs and curved walls draw visitors in, all without overpowering the delicate jewels inside.

Founded by Urvi Patel, Zaura’s delicate pieces are inspired by nature and art. The designer wanted to create a space that matched the spirit of the collection, so she enlisted her husband, Amrish Patel, co-founder of Apical Reform, to help. Working in collaboration with R+R Architects, the studio created a boutique that celebrates the Zaura brand.

“With a deliberate focus on a single tone, the space serves as a canvas on which our products become vibrant protagonists, just as the Earth provides the foundation for life,” explains Urvi. Inspired by stone caves, the fluid walls offer a perfect backdrop for jewellery to shine.

“We adopted a minimalist approach, using sculpted, fluid walls and strategic lighting to create a space that feels both uncluttered and organic,” Amrish elaborates. “This helped to craft an environment where light-play subtly enhances the products, mimicking the interplay of sunlight and shadow in caves.”

The walls are covered with a bespoke texture that resembles travertine stone, and the display elements in the boutique are inspired by raw rock formations and are custom-made from metal, fibreglass, and glass. To break up these textures, the lounge area features soft carpets, plush upholstery, and a mirror with rock details attached.

Every aspect of the boutique, from the plinths to the furniture and décor, was designed and executed in-house. The bathroom combines natural shapes, intricate stone, and soft lighting to enhance the materials and maintain the store’s overall organic atmosphere.

The drama of this space lies in its simple palette and repeated elements, creating a theatrical interior that guides customers on an immersive experience.
