Nestled in the Beverlywood neighbourhood in the heart of Los Angeles is Daniel Rabin and Annie Ritz from And And And Studio’s latest project. More than just a residence, this home for a busy family of five is a seamless fusion of contemporary aesthetics and respect for historical roots.Joseph Miller, the owner of Runyon Group and developer of Platform in LA, along with his wife Amy, approached Daniel and Annie with a unique vision. Surrounded by cookie-cutter houses, they yearned for a home that stood out, something different and inspiring. And And And Studio rose to the challenge, drawing inspiration from the couple’s journeys through Italy, specifically Puglia, without falling into pastiche. This marked the beginning of a design journey that would shape Beverlywood’s layout and material palette. “We weren’t making something new that was trying to imitate something old, but something new that references the past,” explains Daniel. The plan comprises four interconnected structures that form a central courtyard with interior gardens artfully integrated. The idea behind this design is to create a flow, allowing occupants to move seamlessly throughout the day, from one space to another. “We wanted to play with curves, but we weren’t driven by them. They’re a breath of fresh air and a fun twist in the space,” adds Annie.Like a Living Thing: Chris Mottalini’s Portraits of Anaïs Nin’s Silverlake Refuge. The exhibition points to Mottalini’s meticulous, almost obsessive, interest in the interior world, taking you inside Anaïs Nin’s most personal LA space... Their work speaks to a deep understanding of each client’s perspective, as seen in Beverlywood’s thoughtful execution. When asked about their favourite aspect of the project, Daniel and Annie both find themselves drawn to the kitchen, a functional marvel seamlessly integrated into the home’s design. Additionally, they take pride in the “floating gardens”. “[They] that cut into the plan that serves a few functions,” explains the duo. “Primarily they bring beautiful greenery into the house. But they also allow large glass and daylight without giving up too much privacy. The gardens were a tricky feat, as they all have living space underneath. So we always think of them as “floating gardens”, even though no one can see it like that,” they conclude.Arctic Monkeys Drummer Matt Helders’ Home in LA by Corinne Mathern.Inside this 1950s LA home, Corinne Mathern takes a balanced approach to this interior brimming with charming mid-century...
