In the charming heart of Paris, a 120-square-meter classical apartment has been transformed into a collector’s dream, thanks to the creative vision of Alicia Luxem. This project blends timeless Parisian charm with contemporary design, resulting in a space that’s both peaceful and provocative.Given carte blanche by her client, Luxem’s vision for the interior is a far cry from the cookie-cutter Parisian pads we’ve seen a million times before. Instead, she’s concocted a delicious cocktail of natural materials, bespoke pieces and pops of colour to make your design taste buds tingle.Luxem’s approach to materials is commendable. Wooden floors provide a warm foundation, while lime plaster walls and gypsum arches add texture and depth. It’s a tactile feast that begs you to run your hands along every surface. But the designer doesn’t stop at the traditional. She throws caution to the wind and injects bursts of colour throughout the space. It’s like finding a box of Froot Loops in a health food store—unexpected but utterly delightful.Historic yet of the Moment: Haussmannian Apartment in Paris by Hauvette & Madani.A renovation usually ends better than it begins, although Samantha Hauvette and Luca Madani would probably beg to differ. Their pair's project isn't just a renovation; it's a renovation of a renovation that turns back the clock on its predecessor to restore and reveal what came before it. Custom is king at the Turenne apartment, and Luxem has gone all out with various custom-designed pieces. She created everything from an orange lacquered study (yes, you read that right) to a curved wooden desk in the bedroom.Luxem’s talent for curation shines through in her selection of furniture and accessories. The Le Mura Sofa by Mario Bellini rubs shoulders with Gobi armchairs by Paulin, creating a seating arrangement that’s as comfortable as it is cool. The Chapo desk and chair add a touch of mid-century magic, while Gaetano Pesce vases bring a dash of Italian style. It’s an eclectic mix that somehow works together like a dream team of design.Harmonious and Surprising: Enfants Rouges Paris Apartment by Studio Carré.Nestled in the historic Marais district, Studio Carré transforms a traditional Parisian apartment into a contemporary haven. The design leverages the unique geometry of the space... In a stroke of genius, Luxem has transformed the former maid’s room into an ensuite guest room. Perched high above the city, this timber hideout offers lucky visitors a bird’s eye view of those iconic Parisian rooftops. In a city known for its style, the Turenne apartment speaks to the power of individuality. It’s proof that with a little imagination (okay, a lot of imagination) and a fearless approach to design, you can create a space that’s truly one-of-a-kind.Le Marais: A Luminous Apartment in Paris by Studio Haddou-DuFourcq.‘Le marais’, in French, literally translates to ‘swamp’, but there's nothing remotely swamp-like about Le Marais, the apartment in Paris recently redesigned by Studio Haddou-DuFourcq. Mind you, the same can’t be said about its state a few years ago.
