Occupying the ground floor of a heritage terrace on Armadale’s High Street, Akin Atelier’s latest boutique for Camilla and Marc conveys a residential, European feel through the architectural qualities presented by the site and the tactile material composition of the interior scheme.Comprising four sequential rooms, the rectilinear floor plan is divided by low-lying steps and travertine architraves. Each space conveys subtle shifts in materiality, while visually aligning with Camilla and Marc retail vernacular. The front room offers a sense of arrival with two-tone travertine checkerboard floors, travertine skirting and two-tone custom colour marmorino render walls. Custom hanging rails trace the walls, and a one-off Pearl Wave Onyx-clad counter anchors the space and extends into the second room. The second and third rooms are defined by custom grey oiled European oak floorboards laid in a herringbone pattern with continuous travertine skirting – tying in with the front room. A pair of large rectangular windows, newly introduced to the space, allow light into the mid-point of the long and lean site ensuring the availability of natural light throughout the day.The second room offers a fitting room wrapped in Kvdarat / Raf Simons Helia Boucle in a pumpkin shade, cleverly tucked into a nook adjacent to the balustrade. Hanging rails continue, following the curve of the marmorino plasterwall, with an integrated travertine plinth designed to serve as a curated accessories display.
