Curating a playlist takes a comfortable mix of taste and adventure, as well as knowing when to remove a song that no longer serves the vibe. It cannot be done willy-nilly unless one possesses a talent so finely tuned you can charge by the hour. When it comes to listening, unless your surroundings are optimum, the music might as well be that of the elevator ilk.Enter Ceremony of Roses, the Los Angeles-based headquarters for global branding design and music merchandising, designed by 22RE in collaboration with Madeleine Denley of Never Far Studios. This approximately 650-square-metre space is nothing short of hitting the high notes, every time.A synthesis of Californian and European Modernism, this office space aims to cultivate intimacy and creativity in the sessions it hosts for musicians and their partners as they conceive brand-defining materials. It has seen artists like Adele, Olivia Rodrigo and Lil Nas X walk through its doors and no doubt leave with rather a large smile.Waterfrom Design Breaks the Grid in the Taipei HQ for Vacanza.Breaking free from traditional grid layouts, this workplace features winding pathways and 45-degree angles that transform everyday movements into moments of discovery. Located within a vaulted 1950s factory and framed by a soft timber beam-work structure, this concrete-based space contributes more organic furnishings and custom casework, curated and created by the team at 22RE to feed the growing dichotomy between the natural and the industrial. Throughout, a range of vintage Akari lamps and pendants marry these opposing concepts and offer a soft, glowing bridge between the two. This is first introduced atop the white oak welcome counter with Inigo Maurer’s Lampampe. The Huddle room, immediately adjacent, mimics levels akin to a 70s sunken lounge, covered in moss-green wall-to-wall carpeting and upholstery, and encased in stainless steel panelling—the epitome of cool. Centering this contemporary lounge is a custom coffee table inspired by Oscar Niemeyer, returning the favour by inspiring those in its wake. The communal workspace could easily be mistaken for a commercial kitchen (more The Bear, less The Original Beef of Chicagoland). The array of neatly packed custom aluminium desks, cabinets and Eames management chairs would inspire only the highest calibre of work to be done, and how could it not, what with the executive suites dotted along the perimeter of the open space, fully curated with statement vintage furniture and artworks. Identifying the nucleus of the space is easy; its anchoring dark-stained white oak freestanding structure (take a breath) is hard to miss. Inside the conference room, a burl wood Deco-inspired table hosts 6 seats of Pierre Jeanneret Floating Back chairs, sitting comfortably within the maple-burl panelled walls and titanium travertine shelving. The intimacy of this space is captured once more in the dark and ambient listening room, with its chocolate brown velvet upholstered sofa and rich walnut base, the top-lit vinyl-filled wall and skylight providing strokes of breathing room and light throughout. The kitchen repeats notes of lightly stained oak and titanium travertine and showcases a 22RE-designed stainless steel dining table and matching chairs. The Ceremony of Roses HQ is just such a perfect example of adding and subtracting and knowing exactly when to do both so that, ultimately, your playlist sings.Modernity Meets Nostalgia: Lanwuu Imagine Photography Studio by Aurora Design. Is it a hotel?
