Two Circles Chair by Kebei Li.

Two Circles Chair by Kebei Li is an “aesthetic study of the contrast between a line and a surface”. Using only rectilinear and circular elements, Li created a highly rational, logical, and mathematical geometry. The designer chose a deep shade of navy to further “flatten” the appearance of the chair, giving the object an almost two-dimentional quality. I really love the way the image of two overlapping chairs creates an illustrated effect, segmenting the background into a series of pure shapes.

The frame of the chair is constructed with welded solid steel rods, while the seat and back are made from curved laminated plywood. The back panel is treated with a subtle ergonomic curvature to increase  the ergonomics and comfort of the chair. Well… I have to say that I’m not entirely sure how comfortable this chair would be, but one things’s for sure – it looks super beautiful and elegant. Goodness knows I’ve bought plenty of shoes based on this theory alone, so why should a chair be any different? Ah, relax – I’m only kidding of-course… about the chair, not the shoes.
