“Against nature: the real and the imagined unite in a new synthesis of colour, codes and conceptions of clothing. There is an idea of experimentation in altering the nature of Dior’s fashion through a celebration of the artificial and the real this season. Here, for Raf Simons, Artistic Director of Christian Dior, the past collides with the future, ultimately forming a new tribe of flower women in a new architecture of clothing for Spring-Summer.” But enough of that serious fashion talk. You may recall Ella’s post about Dior’s amazing Autumn/Winter 2012 Runway. It seems Mr Simons has a bit of a thing for flowers, as this year the floral concept returned with a vengeance. Enlisting the help of celebrated fashion event designer Bureau Betak once again, a temporary structure was constructed in the center of Jardin du Musée Rodin. This temporary hanging garden is such a spectacular and dreamy interpretation of an exotic tropical wonderland. It’s so beautiful that one would expect nothing less from the House of Dior, non? Precisely.Watch the time-lapse of the structure coming together in the video below. I must warn you – I found the choice of music pretty lame (think Euro trash), and almost inappropriate. Perhaps it’s just me? If you’re a proper fashion type (seriously, what are you doing here?) perhaps you might also like to watch the edited version of the fashion show itself. I did, but mostly because I was still interested in the hanging garden runway itself. Yes, I’m obsessed.
