With an enviable location in the new wing of the Palais de Tokyo, perched on the quays of the Seine just across from the Eiffel Tower, Monsieur Bleu is set to become the City of Light’s new place to be seen. Designed by French architect Joseph Dirand, the interior cleverly combines classical and contemporary, incorporating Dirand’s signature aesthetic – understated, minimal and so-cool-that-it-gives-me-a-headache.

Named after a fictional character, the restaurant goes against the colour palette of blues that one might expect. Instead – sage, khaki and olive-green tones of plush velvet dominate the space. The same colour can be found in the Connemara green marble of the banquette seating structure. Black and white marble floor tiles, distressed mirror wall panels and geometric chandeliers by Michel Boyer fill the cavernous space.

Now that the business part is out of the way, please excuse me for just one moment while I go a bit goo-goo-ga-ga over this beautiful, beautiful interior. I mean, isn’t it just so exquisite, elegant, chic, and… ummm, you know… French? You could almost instantly guess it to be in Paris without ever looking at the title. Ahhh, those Parisians, they are so frustratingly stylish and a little bit awesome. Dix points. (That’s ’10 points’ for those who don’t watch Eurovision, or speak fluent Français like moi.)

It’s a pleasure Jo. Thank you for your comment. I love how super lush and opulent the space is, although it never feels like it’s too much – it manages to remain elegant and understated.
