After visiting the Aesop fitout in Paris, fashion designer Damir Doma took a bet that March Studio could do no wrong. Well, well, didn’t the Melbourne practice prove Doma so right with this ragingly fabulous fit-out for his Paris flagship store? In order to reflect Doma’s design ethos, March Studio were asked to design a space that was both raw and sophisticated with a focus on layering and materiality. Herringbone floors, black steel plates and aged walls play together happily whilst basking in the dreamy glow cast by the mirrored ceiling above. In case these layers of textural delights aren’t enough, the real heart of the project unfolds- one gloriously beautiful staircase. Layers of natural stone slabs are casually stacked upon one another to form the treads. The unfinished edges of the slabs expressed on the tread face and again on the underside, alluding to a monolithic construction. The detail is effortlessly relaxed but oh so utterly decadent. That pretty much sums up the whole project really. It’s raw, edgy, sophisticated and elegant all at once. The perfect backdrop to Damir Doma’s collection. Oh gosh, this space gives me all sorts of heart flutters and pangs of design joy. March Studio, I’m already impatient for your next strike of design magic.– Ella.Ps. I won’t be back here for my next usual fortnight slot because I’ll be in a self-induced food coma. Two weeks to go. How did that happen? See you in 2013 and have a great break![Images via Australian Design Review / Photography by David Foessel, and Retail Design Blog.]Share the love:FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPinterest One Response Damir Doma Store by March Studio // Paris, France. | odedalony April 16, 2013 […] Damir Doma Store by March Studio // Paris, France. | Yellowtrace — Interior Design, Architecture, ….
