As someone who has a lot of close family and friends overseas, I could really relate to this clever project by the Singapore-born, New York-based photographer John Clang. Formal family portraits of entire families are common practice in Singapore. However, nowadays quite a number of families miss out on these portraits as many young people tend to take jobs abroad. John came up with a super cunning stunt to capture virtual family reunions using Skype and web-cam projections on walls. Genius!

Clang’s Skype portraits will be on display at the National Museum of Singapore in 2013.
