Ummmm… Wow. Hello sexy interior, where have you been all my life? So, can you guys tell that I have a bit of a “thing” for old buildings. Yes, it’s becoming a bit of a problem.
This loft in Barcelona belongs to a Swiss architect Gus Wüstemann and his young family. (Side note – apparently Wüstemann commutes weekly between his practice in Zurich and Barcelona. Wowzers, that’s some commute.) Existing building dates back to 1860, which Wüstemann stripped, patched then varnished to maintain the weathered look. The new insertion was literally superimposed over the existing shell creating a clear distinction between the old and the new. And what a beautiful union it is – super slick, minimalist and modern is layered with beautiful patina and carefully preserved character of the original building.
Extreme love to the power of 10.

To the power of 10 x 10 I think! This is gorgeous. I love the distressed/ textured walls combined with the sleek timbers. Beautiful and calming.
