The restaurant features a unique mix of lights from an old church, furniture purchased at auction + tables, chairs and lights from Piet’s own collection.

Well, well, well… Isn’t this a stroke of genius if ever I’ve seen one? Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek found an abandoned factory space on the outskirts of Eindhoven, and immediately decided to convert it into his studio, shop, gallery, restaurant, event room, attelier for designers and factory which produces his trademark pieces made from reclaimed timber and metal. Wowee! Amazeballs, right? This 10,000 square meters of space, originally occupied by Philips, went through an extensive refurb in order to turn the initially dark box into an interior filled with light, life and design.

Even if the space was double to what we were looking for, we did not hesitate. My imagination was immediately put in motion. With an area so vast the possibilities were endless. For example, I wanted to set up a dining room for guests. But this could rise to a real restaurant! Then I came to other ideas – give life to a shop, in addition to the showroom. And a dedicated space for workshops for young talents. – Piet Hein Eek.
