I love nothing more than seeing wonderful examples of workplace interiors. I often harp on about the lack of good commercial design and whenever I see a fine specimen which goes against my theory, I feel super happy. Enter The Research Agency, a boutique market research company in Auckland, New Zealand. This 200sqm fit out designed by Jose Gutierrez is a little gem. Situated in a 1920s building, the space is blessed with a fantastic bone structure which has been cleverly overlaid with a bold, sleek and beautifully detailed interior.

Some of the things I really, really like – the entry billboard signage constructed out of raw steel, seamless and shimmering black gloss gravel floor, soft hints of brass in the dominating  monochromatic palette which provide a lovely accent and a sense of warmth, black gloss ceiling in the boardroom and those translucent soft curtains which veil the walls and windows providing the loveliest indirect light, 19th century portraits of well-known Auckland business entrepreneurs designed to float over the said curtains.

This memorable and dramatic interior is sure to stand the test to time, and at the same time look contemporary and fresh for years to come. Yes, indeed. This is how it is done.

Extreme love.
