Curtain Call is a kick-ass installation designed by Ron Arad and located at London’s Roudhouse, a space dedicated to nurturing creative young talent and presenting an eclectic line up in Live Music, Theatre, Circus and New Media. Instead of a typical theatre or movie screen, Curtain Call offers a giant suspended circular installation made up of 5,600 silicon rods resulting in a 360-degree interactive venue. Given that these rods are translucent, the projections can be witnessed from both inside and outside the ‘circle’.

Arad‘s intention was to create a venue in which people would be engulfed by images – “a captive, but also a creator”. His aim for the installation was to be as inclusive as the Roundhouse itself, but to also add an element of high art “but without the bolshevism of the art market. Kids will love it.” Amen to that!

Curtain Call can be visited at Roudhouse until 29 August. (Farm Road, London NW1 8EH). The project has been sponsored by Bloomberg, which mean that the venue only asks visitors to pay what they would like on the day. Watch this video to find out more or check out BBC’s video report here.
