EC03 EUGENE armchair was launched in Milan last month.

ST10 JEAN stool complements the Eugene armchair, also launched in Milan this year.

SF05 BESS two seater sofa was also amongst the new products launched in Milan.

EC02 BESSY armchair and the corresponding stool complete the product family around the sofa SF05 BESS.

I think I’ve mentioned more then once how overwhelming Milan is during the Salone. Major sensory overload means that all the new products can be quite difficult to remember and after a while stuff just ends up looking the same – particularly all the sensible pieces which don’t scream for attention like some of the installationy concepty items… if you catch my drift.

One of the things that stuck with me were the new pieces from e15, a German company which operates in the premium segment of the market. Interestingly enough, I just found out that e15 also realises interior design and architecture projects on an international scale, developing high profile schemes in the residential and commercial realm, including retail, office, hospitality and public spaces. Clever.

Designed by Munich based Stefan Diez, e15 presented a new family of seating furniture including a new sofa, two new lounge chairs and a bar stool – all shown above. I love their origami-like form and super fine timber frame.

Below are a few images of some of my favourite pieces from e15 released in the last couple of years.

CT08 VIER series of new coloured glass side tables were designed by Philipp Mainzer in 2009 and launched in Cologne in January this year.

CM05 HABIBI tray and side table designed by Philipp Mainzer in 2008. HABIBI is reminiscent of ornately detailed oriental tea services, available in polished brass, copper and stainless steel. I am not normally much for bling, but these guys are yumm-o.

CH04 HOUDINI was developed by contemporary German designer Stefan Diez in 2009. Made from lacquered oak-veneered plywood. The chair has been awarded the Red Dot Award 2010 in the product design category.

CH04 HOUDINI armrest details as above.

SH05 ARIE shelves designed by Arik Levy in 2008. Made of 25 mm thick solid wood or white powder-coated medium density fibreboard, available in two different heights.

How fast things move to the ‘high street’ – have seen an almost exact replica of the bookcase above at Freedom a couple of months ago. (The boy, who is not into design at all, has lusted after it ever since – so clearly there is a broad appeal to this style!)
