I have just spent an entire week away in the sun with my great friends. I felt like a giant human battery that was getting re-charged for the year ahead. One thing that I love about summer (apart from the obvious) is the brilliant colours and shades everywhere you look – the ocean, the sunsets, beach umbrellas and towels, fresh produce… Oh and fantastic hues of shiny nailpolish! I’m wearing one at the moment that I absolutely love – check it out (Margaret from Mecca Cosmetica – kapau!)

My week of being saturated in great colours and all the sunlight have inspired me to dig out a few images of one of my favourite international artists – Francoise Nielly.

If I could sum up the work of this supremely talented French artist in a single word, I would chose to describe it as – WOW {although I realise that’s not a real word}. Even if you are not typically a fan of oil paintings, you might just change your mind once you see her boldly colourful, vibrant, delicious, explosive and passionate pieces.

Francoise was born in Marseille, brought up near Cannes and Saint-Tropez, and now lives and works in Paris. She has been painting portraits in her unique style for the past 20 years.

If you like what you see here, I highly recommend watching this video posted on her site, which shows her confident hand and painting knife in action. Absolutely incredible.
